Off Campus Library Service

The Off Campus Library Service (OCLS) assists staff and students who may not be able to visit our campus libraries in person.

We provide postal delivery or electronic email delivery of library resources and documents.

We are located in the Library at the Mawson Lakes Campus of the University of South Australia.

If you have any questions about this service please contact Ask the Library

    • Currently enrolled UniSA students who may:
      • be enrolled in external mode or online/off-site for all courses in the current study period
      • live outside of the Adelaide metropolitan area
      • be enrolled as an offshore student
      • have a disability
      • are an elite athlete or
      • attend a regional campus
    • University of South Australia staff engaged in rural, remote and offshore locations
    • Open Universities Australia students enrolled in units offered by UniSA in the current study period
    • Students on placement outside the Adelaide metropolitan area may be eligible. Please contact Ask the Library via email with your placement details if you think you may qualify
  • You do not need to register to use the service and there is no charge to you
    Exception: students/staff living outside of Australia

     

    Library notices and other correspondence are sent to UniSA email accounts only. If you wish to receive correspondence at an alternative email address, you must organize an email redirection.

  • It is important that you update the University of any changes to your mailing address
    If you wish to change your address or use an alternative mailing address for OCLS deliveries:

    • Students: can update this information via myUniSA
    • Staff: should contact their HR department
  • You can request electronic delivery of documents free of charge

    We will post books overseas only within the following conditions:

    • You are prepared to organize and pay the postage back to us
    • Items requested are not in high demand, unique or fragile
    • The maximum loan period is 8 weeks, including postal times
    • Confirmation of your address must be received prior to dispatching any items
    • We cannot deliver to Post Offices, Poste Restante facilities or mail forwarding services

  • The OCLS can provide electronic delivery of documents which are not available electronically from library resources, but are available from the University Library collection.

    This includes:

    • Articles from print journals
    • Chapters from books
    • Conference papers

    Australian Copyright Act 1968 allows us to copy one journal article from each issue of the required journal and either 10% or one chapter from a book, whichever is greater.

  • For documents not held at UniSA Library check if you are eligible to request delivery via the Interlibrary Loans and Document Delivery Service.

    How Items are Posted

    • Items are posted via eParcel (Australia Post) to your nominated mailing address
    • Each parcel will include a reply paid satchel for you to return your items
    • A UniSA Library loan receipt will be sent to your University email address to advise that the item has left us. eParcel tracking emails will be also be sent outlining the path the item takes on its way to you.
    • eParcel will deliver the item within a few days. A signature on receipt is required.
      If you are not home, a card will be left and you will need to collect the parcel at the Post Office
    • Ensure that your nominated mailing address is correct
    • Search for the item using the Library Catalogue
    • 4 Day High Demand Collection items can be requested and will be posted for a period of 14 days
    • Select the green ‘Request’ button for your desired item and log in when prompted
    • Select 'any copy' for the first available item (unless you require a specific volume)
    • Change the pickup location to 'Off Campus Library Service'
    • Your emailed loan receipt will indicate the due date of your item
    • Main Collection items will receive automatic renewals a few days before the item is due, up to a maximum of 40 weeks, unless the item is recalled by another patron
    • Recalls shorten the loan period to 14 days and automatic renewals will not occur
    • The Library sends a weekly Borrower Activity Statement every Monday to notify patrons of due dates, recalls and overdue items. These automatic reminders are a courtesy
    • Please regularly check myLibrary and your email to confirm your items due dates and to avoid late fees
    • 4 Day High Demand Collection items are issued for 14 days and renewals do not apply
    • Concerns relating to any fees will only be considered if items have been post marked with a return date either before or matching your due date
    • Use the reply-paid satchel received with your delivery. No payment is required
    • If you do not want to return all of your borrowed items together please contact Ask the Library to request another satchel be posted to you
    • Take the satchel to a Post Office or deposit it in a Yellow Australia Post postal box
